At the Guelph Giants Special Needs Hockey Foundation, hockey is about much more than learning the game. Every practice, game and tournament helps athletes with intellectual disabilities develop confidence, independence, teamwork and lifelong friendships.

Every athlete develops at their own pace. Rather than grouping players by age, athletes are placed into one of three skill-based programs that best match their current hockey abilities.
Our Fundamentals program focuses on introducing and strengthening the basic skills of hockey. Players develop skating, puck control, passing, shooting and game awareness while building confidence in a fun, encouraging setting.
The Junior program is designed for players who have developed the fundamentals and are ready for more structured practices and game situations. Athletes continue improving their hockey skills while learning teamwork, positioning and game strategy.
The Intermediate program is designed for athletes who are ready to further develop their hockey skills in a more advanced and competitive environment. Players continue refining skating, puck movement, positioning, game awareness and teamwork through practices, league play and tournaments.
